High School Intern, Tech & Product Development

Before applying to Millie’s internship, I was unfamiliar with the concept of a fully virtual internship. The thrill of something new was enticing, yet doubts arose, largely influenced by my prior internship experiences:

“Would this experience be fulfilling?”

“Would I get to learn anything from it at all?”

In previous internships, the tasks were mundane and uninspiring. Therefore, I approached Millie's internship with some skepticism. However, the tasks I received were far from monotonous. I was pleasantly surprised by their complexity and depth - they were not only challenging but also fostered creativity and problem-solving. Instead of routine work, I found myself implementing new APIs, using Parser Libraries, and facing problems that demanded unique solutions.

As a Tech & Product Development Intern, I spearheaded the development of the “School Recommender” engine. This multifaceted project comprised various sub-components, from building a comprehensive database of schools to devising social media bots for communication and data collection. This role didn’t only allow me to expand my technical prowess but also honed my communication and collaboration skills, as I got the chance to work alongside various departments within Millie.

Now, three months into the internship, I can confidently state that it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my summer. It hasn't only refined my working style but has also afforded me genuine opportunities to collaborate with professionals on diverse project aspects. Given a chance, I would relish the opportunity to continue contributing to Millie. Being a part of this close-knit community and knowing my efforts benefit a larger student community is truly fulfilling.
