Nickeisha Thomas, counsellor at ACS Doha, has a challenging job.
Her students are a very diverse mix and when it comes to discussing careers that have many "national" features (e.g. practicing law in the US vs. the UK) or industries that are completely global (such as "tech"), it's hard to provide definite answers.
Our answer? Give students the ability to compare perspectives across companies & job functions and countries & jurisdictions. Between March and June 2020, we hosted three panels for ACS Doha students:
- Careers in Tech, featuring mentors from Microsoft (System Engineer), Amazon (Data Scientist) and Netflix (Product Designer)
- Careers in Law, featuring a barrister based in Hong Kong, a solicitor at a UK insurer and a VC attorney at a top US law firm
- Medical School, UK vs. US, where an international student who got offers from both UK and US medical schools compared medical studies and careers in the UK and the US and entry points for international students
