Sara is a Saudi/Kashmiri international student and rising junior at UC Berkeley.
She studies Molecular Biology and Data Science, concentrating in medical biology and physiology, and is a recipient of a competitive full-ride scholarship from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology Gifted Students Program. At Berkeley, Sara has worked as a research apprentice for the Rapid Reviews: Infectious Diseases journal, a collaborative effort between MIT and UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health to accelerate the peer review of upcoming COVID-19 literature.
Outside of Berkeley, she has also worked as a data analyst and assistant researcher at the STEP biomechanical engineering lab in VirginiaTech, where her interest in biotechnology sparked. She has a passion for human health, and after her Bachelor’s degree, she plans to seek a Master’s degree and work in the biotechnology industry.
Other than academics, Sara enjoys taking long walks, exploring the Bay Area, listening to audiobooks, and visiting her home city- Riyadh- whenever possible.
