Why Am I Hosting a Women in Tech Panel?

Things we cover at Millie are really just the things I wish I had when I was in high school. Although I studied engineering at Cornell, I had no idea what engineering was. I went there because I was "smart" and good at math. Even though that led me to this amazing career in data science, I had no idea what a data scientist did. My first hiring manager said he hired me for my potential because I was able to explain how to build a complex statistical model solely using Excel functions.

Fast forward to today, having spoken to thousands of people about Millie, it turns out there's a whole world out there that feels the same pain, regardless of who they are in this equation: parents who wish to give a more up-to-date outlook on future careers to their children, students who want to understand the differences between two seemingly similar majors, and schools that aim to provide information beyond their designated curriculum (e.g., British schools discussing the US university & career landscape).

Armed with this inner conviction and now with validation, we set out to create our entire content strategy for 2020. We will be publishing bespoke, niche, yet relatable content like this one. We are bringing in mentors, who are like the older sisters & brothers I always wished I had during high school and in my early adulthood.
