The experience of talking to high-school students and sharing the lessons I had learned over many years was fulfilling. Sharing my lessons gave me a new appreciation for my experiences.

A month before mentoring for Millie, I was coming up on my 5-year work anniversary. As a new inductee into the “mid-career” club, I was seeking new opportunities to make an impact. I was very familiar with the fulfilling feeling of delivering a feature that impacted a product, but unfamiliar with the feeing of impacting people. Millie ended up being the perfect opportunity to do just this.

I signed up for a panel speaking to high-school students in the Middle East. This was my first time being on a panel. Thankfully, Jenna introduced the panelists, topics and format in an organized way that allayed all my concerns. The experience of talking to high-school students and sharing the lessons I had learned over many years was fulfilling. Sharing my lessons gave me a new appreciation for my experiences.
