Academic Advisor

Her research, as well as her own experience having studied in 8 schools in 3 countries, has made her an authority on Third Culture Kids and Transition programmes in international schools.

Mary has a BA with a double major in Spanish (Sigma Delta Pi) with Portuguese and Latin American Humanities from the University of Texas (El Paso); followed by an MA in International Education from the University of Bath where she is currently working on an EdD (International Education). A classic TCK she also studied at The College of William and Mary and George Mason University.

Mary has over 40 years’ experience in international schools in the UK and Spain as a teacher, principal, head, and as an admissions, alumni and development director at schools offering US, UK, Spanish. Saudi and IB curricula. For four years she was Deputy Director of ECIS (European Council of International Schools) with responsibility for publications and professional development programmes, and she has served on 18 international school accreditation teams worldwide.

Her own experience having studied in 8 schools in 3 countries and 3 languages before graduating, and her master’s research on Internationally Mobile Pupi and International Schools have made her an authority on Third Culture Kids and Transition programmes in international schools.

She is now an educational consultant managing a service that for 10 years has provided support in 40 mother tongue languages to IBDP School-Supported Self Taught students in 80 IB world schools.
